Where did it go
wrong?
The Israelis will argue it went
wrong exactly at that point in time where the bus exploded
in Jerusalem. This might sound convincing for those who are
willing to convince themselves via these lines of thinking.
I think it went wrong before this busload, just look at the facts please:
In the third letter I asked the
Israelis very explicit the next (quote):

This was written in the third
letter to you, date published was 14 August.
It was even written at the top of
the letter, this was a big concern to me because it was
clear that you just went on the old ways and the old ways
could only bring trouble again. It is true that I said to
the Hamas and Islamic Jihad 'You have no discipline enough!'
And it is also true that the bus explosion implicated the
end of the truce.
But all in all it is very simple
Israel, if you just would not have done those stupid raids
to lay your hands on just one or two militia members than
this bus explosion very likely would not have happened. The
seeds were sown on the forehand by your own actions, like I
tried to tell you a few times:
Please adopt to
the characteristics involved.
Not only with the wisdom of
hindsight but more or less constantly I did observe that you
did not adopt to that. Just a few weeks of total quiet ness
would have done a good job. It would finally have started
de-freezing some hearts; and with the handover of four
cities stuff would probably have evolved furthermore.
But this is now all history, just
history. That is a pity, two times and within one or 1.5
hour I did get positive signals from the Hamas and the al
Aqsa brigades. And no, just none positive signal from the
Israelis. Ha! Even the White House spoke words like 'Dismantling
has to be done at the appropriate time with the appropriate
steps.'
Yes, even the White House my dear but stubborn Israel. But
instead of you figuring out to dismantle with many dozens or
even hundreds at a time you kept shooting stuff out body by
body.
And that last fact was likely the
very root to the bus bombing. So next time I expect a more
fundamental contribution from your side, a more uniformly bounded contribution to spell it out in mathematical terms.
End of this letter, shoot well and
die well.
