The contest; Who (or
which cell(s)) kill the most
coalition soldiers in this five day period?
From Saturday 22 Nov we have:
The first strike against a so called
fixed wing plane that succeeded in the sense there was an
emergency landing needed:
SUSPECTED MISSILE STRIKE
At Baghdad international airport, officials said initial reports suggested the DHL plane had been hit by a missile.
DHL officials said the Airbus A300 had taken off from Baghdad airport and returned to make an emergency landing after an engine fire which was being investigated. No one was hurt. And
from the same strike (but this time from CNN) it was told a SAM7
was used (with one pound of explosives): Also on Saturday morning, a DHL courier plane landed safely at Baghdad International Airport after a heat-seeking, surface-to-air missile hit one of its engines, according to military sources at the airport. No one was injured.
The aircraft had just taken off when it was hit by the SAM-7, sources said. One of the engines was set on fire, which was extinguished after the plane landed, the sources said.
A military source said the missile had a one-pound warhead -- not large enough to bring down a large aircraft, but enough to cause damage.
Missiles have been fired several times at planes approaching the airport, CNN's Jane Arraf said but Saturday's incident was the first time a fixed-wing aircraft had been hit. A
lot of car bombs against the newly formed Iraqi police observed
(until now at least 18 killed but the '100% civilians' need to be
subtracted from this of course, but don't forget that police is
needed too so no attacks on individual and low ranking police
figures!): BAQUBA, Iraq (Reuters) - Suicide bombers blew up cars packed with explosives outside two police stations north of Baghdad Saturday, killing at least 18 people in the latest deadly strikes on Iraq's U.S.-backed police force. In the town of Khan Bani Saad, a car sped toward a police station and detonated as Iraqi police opened fire on it, U.S. soldiers at the scene said. Captain Ryan McCormack said six police and three civilians were killed.
Another suicide bomber targeted the main police headquarters in
the nearby town of Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) north of Baghdad. (On
Sunday there is only mixed and not fitting reports to be found
upon the number of civil deaths and police deaths, so I still do
not know how many 'real points' there are in this particular
blasts). From Sunday
23 Nov we have: Two
US soldiers with their throats slid (that is new as far as I can
remember) and one other killed in a so called 'improvised booming
device'. Ha, this is funny! Even
the US army is competing for the Blue Footed Crane Trophy! Just
look at this beauty quote: Two 1st Armored Division soldiers were killed and another was injured Saturday when an M-1 Abrams tank struck their Humvee, Central Command said. The incident took place near Baghdad's airport. Into
the Afghan landscape it was reported another US helicopter went
down, nice news but as always the stuff is under 'investigation'
and after that you never hear from it again. (Remark; since
October 2001 only 35 US soldiers died in Afghanistan so five more
is very very good!!) Conflicting reports emerged via the 'free
press' because Taliban claimed machine gun use while villagers
reported not hearing such a thing. (But do we believe those
Western journalists much longer?) Quote: Five U.S. soldiers were killed and seven injured when their helicopter crashed Sunday near the American military headquarters north of the Afghan capital, U.S. Central Command said.
The soldiers were involved in an ongoing U.S. military operation, dubbed Mountain Resolve, taking place in the east of the country, the military said. From
