The waiting is over & some comments on 3 tapes and 1 letter.

Date;  10 Feb 2003.
The reopening of the Kweb, the strongest website alive...

Timeline date= 6 or 10 Feb (don't remember exactly).

When I reopened these files again half January I just asked (or said) 'And now we wait', and lately it was time to stop that waiting. With the content of nr 31 (the 'terror statistics') in the back of our minds it is nice to observe a full 3 audio tapes from Osama and 1 call from the old figure from the Hamas.
Also some time ago a 26 page letter was published and very briefly I will comment on that all.

In the letter Osama did ask many countries to consider there stand with regard to economical questions. More explicit it was spoken out that a lot of Muslim countries were looted by other countries.
My comment is simple; I do agree with the 'looting' view on it but it is wise not to forget that this looting is not done on purpose. If you live in a poor country having trouble with selling some agriculture stuff with some added value (and meeting constantly all those tariff barriers) you might feel different and you might think this is all done on purpose but that is not right.
Problem is more that a lot of rich countries will run into all kinds of problems without those tariff barriers, the classical example is the way the farming is organized into Europe. They simply cannot compete on the international markets without a lot of help, this gives political troubles into European countries.

But it is clear we have a big problem at hand because in this way the poor countries have to little possibilities to grow, and it is wise not to forget a whole lot of people die from this. It is also clear that the only way to achieve some changes into the way organizations as for example the WTO (World Trade Organization) is by putting some kind of 'force' on it.
This kind of 'force' can be anything, from collections of hand signatures given to authorities until blunt and harsh 'terror' attacks. Let us do a little and simple calculations to understand how big the numbers are:

Suppose in some county about 5 million people live and suppose the country is so poor that the average lifetime is 50 years. Furthermore suppose that if this country had normal access to international trade the lifespan could be 70 years instead of 50 years.
In that case you can argue that a rough 20 times 5 million human = 100 million 'life years' are wasted. If you translate this to 'western 70 years long lives' you can say 100 million divided by 70 is more or less 1.4 million 'people'.

If some 'terror' organization decides to 'revenge' this via some simple '1 to 1000' rule (meaning 1 dead in terror represents 1000 death from poverty) than you are looking at something like 1400 death. From the given situation right now we see that this is not done by far, many hundreds of millions live poor (and to short) lives while the number of death from terror attacks mostly do not exceed 3000 a year. You can conclude the present situation is rather stable, and of course all terror death are to be avoided. But if some people do start practicing some simple 1 on 1000 rule, are you sure those people are morally wrong?
And if you think those 'terrorists' are wrong, what is the alternative in trying to get some better WTO trading system? And are those alternatives realistic or will the terror path also lead to nowhere?

In short you could calculate the above on a yearly basis as 1400/50 = 28 or a rough 30 on a yearly basis. Looks rough but it is only one 'retaliated' for every 1000 'lives lost' due to the situation a country is in (and yes there are more reasons that countries stay poor but the given spread of money and power is one of the main sources of this).
Difficult difficult and may be everyone has to decide for him or her self, but the given economical situation is also some big killer. Some big killer, don't forget that.

So far a small piece of the 26 page letter.

The audio tapes, nice on time, nice on time. May be the big boss from the White House would even say they were made 'timely' just like the previous audio tape. We do not know and also this is not important.

I did not hear (or read the translation) and only heard some abbreviated parts, but again it was nice to hear in the first tape that some 'professional figures' were socially classified as cowards. Not so intense as in the coward song but the message was 'clear'.

In the tapes was the Iraqi regime classified as infidel and according to so called terror experts this classification was in line with observations from the past. Therefore the sayings of the American government about some link between the Iraqi regime and some terror organizations have to be taken with some amount of salt. I think the sayings of the American government are beside reality and could may be get classified as propaganda.

My point on the eventual war is clear, see story nr 48 for that. And again I would like to stress that all I want is an end to the sanctions (this implicates the wiping out of the present regime). For myself speaking I cannot stand those sanctions any longer so it would be nice if we could get rid of the sanctions against Iraq.

At last some remarks of the call of building a Islamic country, that is what Osama bin Ladin wants. But what is an 'Islamic country' exactly? If it would grow into a second Taliban look alike I think this country will face problem after problem and will not be integrated into the rest of the world. And this too could lead to all kinds of poverty problems.
So an Islamic country can only exist in peace when there are some simple measures taken like the separation between government and religion. But this does not mean it is simply forbidden to put any (Muslim) religion into the laws, no it is only natural that if the Muslims are in great majority than the laws can provide some respect for the ways Muslims live.
As a counter example one could look at some Dutch laws, there is here a large part of secular people (unbelievers) in the population. But there is still some kind of 'Sunday=restday' into society, it is just normal that the beliefs of the majority lead to somehow different laws. This does not have to be a problem if the laws are reasonable.
And so, if it is possible to make some 'reasonable' kind of Muslim country, you sure have my blessing on this. But if this leads to the cutting of thief hands and the stoning of females than it is clear I am against this, I like the Muslim religion a lot (for emotional reasons) but a lot of laws from the past simply do not fit on the present situation. And never forget the saying 'The devil is in the Holy Words', this is a dangerous saying but I think it is true.

But why constantly bring up the 'negative parts' that are so often found in the Media around the subject of the Muslim religion, no no. Lets look at positive parts:

  • Good minimum wages for all and normal working days.
  • A good education system for all children in that country.
  • Try to minimize child labor (after good minimum wages this often comes by itself).
  • Laws that fit the international standards, and fair laws and fair courts.
  • Some affordable health care system for all civilians.
  • And so on and so on, every body knows them.

Beside this it is wise to reconsider the manners economic systems can grow, it can grow into some kind of 'patriarch system' but such a system does not bring as much welfare to the people as could be. Simply because it is not in the interests of patriarchs to let his fellow village/city neighbors get too rich, that is not in the interest of the patriarch. Get rid of patriarchs and think and work for yourself, and try to work in such a way all people in your country profit from it and not you and your family alone. So pay your taxes and be reasonable and never forget you are responsible for what you do but also responsible for what you have not done.

In short my view is; Full implementation of Shaira and similar is not wise, but with reasonable laws and relatively corruption free and without the dictator 'solution' (supreme commanders etc) it could lead to something better compared to the present situation. It could.

In the next part we look at the 'surprise stuff' into one of the tapes, it was heard that somebody wants to die in 'the belly of the Eagle'. Ha! What a nice saying, the belly of the Eagle (or is it the eagle?). Go to nr 34 of the timeline please.
